Avoiding Manual Handling Injuries

Over one third of workplace injuries are Manual Handling related !

In addition to the physical pain, discomfort and potential loss of income for an employee that results from a workplace injury, the consequential issues of inappropriate manual handling creates a massive extra burden on the employees company, community GP's and supporting hospital services.

Manual handling covers a wide variety of activities including lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling and carrying. If any of these tasks are not carried out appropriately there is a risk of injury.

Community Physio can help in a number of ways. Firstly, we can work with your company and employees to help prevent manual handling injuries. Sure, their are many 3rd-party companies who provide such training, but Community Physio puts a physiotherapy spin on the training which specifically focuses, using case studies, about the pain and issues of poor manual handling as well as ways to prevent such.

We can also work with you and/or your employees who are currently suffering from the effects of poor manual handling, and develop individual treatment programs to speed up their recovery. This not only helps to reduce the pain and discomfort for the individual, it means that they can get back to work quicker; hence commercially, all round, it makes good sense.
