Drop the excuses and get physically active

community physio 16Unfortunately it is a fact that today, (2017/18), 1 in 4 women and 1 in 5 men in England are classed as physically inactive as they do less that 30 minutes of moderate physical activity per week

Furthermore, only 34% of men and 24% of women undertake muscle-strengthening activities at least twice a week, and

Men are more likely than women to average 6 or more hours of total sedentary (sitting) time on both weekdays and at weekends.

There are many health benefits associated with physical activity. The message is clear. If you want to stay healthy, live longer and have less dependency on others as you approach old-age, get active.

Spend 20 mins a day moving, stretching, speed walking or even running (on the spot if needed).

Going to the gym is good, but you don't need to have a gym membership to get the health benefits from regular exercise. Talking a dog a reasonable walk twice a day is great exercise - It doesn't have to be your dog if you have good friends or neighbours with dogs. So drop the excuses and get physically active. You won't regret it !
